The Doula

Your Birth. Your Choices. Your Support.
I’m Jane Mattila, a full-spectrum doula, helping you navigate pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with confidence, clarity, and compassion.

About Me.

My passion for birth work began long before I knew what a doula was. I’ve always been drawn to mothers and deeply curious about pregnancy, how it transforms the body, mind, and spirit. I grew up knowing my mother’s birth stories by heart, and even then I sensed that she deserved more compassionate care and stronger advocacy.
In college, a course called Pregnancy and Power opened my eyes to the realities of the U.S. maternal healthcare system and the consequences of highly medicalized childbirth. Hearing doulas and midwives speak about their work and the purpose behind it sparked something deep in me. I had never felt more aligned with a calling.
Following that pull, I completed my birth and postpartum doula certification through Bini Birth in Sherman Oaks. Learning from Kathrin Auger and Ana Paula Markel only affirmed that this is the work I am meant to do.
As a doula, my role is to support you in connecting with your own innate strength, intuition, and wisdom so you can make informed choices for yourself and your baby. Every mother deserves to be seen, heard, and supported without judgement. My goal is to hold space for you, steadily and compassionately, so you can birth and parent from a place of confidence, peace, and love.

"I truly wouldn’t have been able to do it without Jane. The way she supported both me and my husband throughout the entire process was incredible. My labor was long and intense, and she stayed by my side through every moment—giving back massages during the most painful contractions, helping me breathe through the hard parts, and offering constant reassurance when I needed it most.

Her care didn’t stop once the baby arrived, either. After birth, when I was exhausted and overwhelmed, she was right there helping feed me, making sure I was taken care of so I could focus on bonding with my baby.

Jane’s presence brought so much calm, strength, and compassion to our birth experience. I’m beyond grateful for her, and I can honestly say I couldn’t have done it without her."
